JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Walkers put on their tennis shoes to benefit the Arkansas chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Several teams joined up and came out to the Joe Mack Campbell Athletic Complex Saturday to walk for a cause. All the funds raised will help more than 29-hundred Arkansans living with MS. It will also provide money for research to find a cure for multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system.
Cari Dunham helped put on Saturday's event, and says for her, it's a cause that hits close to home. "My dad was actually diagnosed with MS back in 2007. He's my inspiration. He's why I do it. All the money raised here in Arkansas, stays here in Arkansas. That goes to provide ramps for people who can't afford it, and just stuff to help people out who might not have the means," says Dunham.
With online donations and the money brought in Saturday the society met their goal of 25-thousand dollars. Dunham says donations will be accepted through May 23. For more information on how you can donate, just go to www.walkmsarkansas.org and click on the Jonesboro link.
