Homecoming Ceremony Planned for Region 8 Guard Unit

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The Mountain Home and Marshall-based 224th Maintenance Company will be formally welcomed home on Friday (Sept. 26) morning at a ceremony on the west lawn of Arkansas State University's Mountain Home campus.

The unit has been deployed since March 15 to Fort Sill, Oklahoma in support of Operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom, providing multiple levels of maintenance support to several Army units including the 3rd Armored Division and Third Corps.

August 22, the 224th received a demobilization order releasing the soldiers from federal active duty effective October 15.

Friday at 9 a.m., the company will have a formation at ASU-Mountain Home.  Special invited guests included Brigadier General Larry Haltom, deputy adjutant general of Arkansas; Mountain Home Mayor Ed House, Baxter County Judge Joe Bodenhamer, and Baxter County Sheriff Joe Edmonds.  A community reception at the Mountain Home Armory will follow the ceremony.

A second formation will follow at 2 p.m. at the Searcy County Fairgrounds in Marshall.
