Water recedes, some roads reopen across Black River

U.S. 62 east of Corning across the river is open along with Arkansas highway 135. U.S. 62 east of Corning across the river is open along with Arkansas highway 135.

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Historically high flood waters have receded enough Sunday morning to allow some roads to reopen across the Black River.  U.S. 62 east of Corning across the river is open along with Arkansas highway 135.  U.S. 67 between Pocahontas and Reyno is also open again.

These roads mean a shorter path across the river.  U.S. 67 is closed south of Pocahontas and U.S. 412 in the same area.  State highways 37, 14 and 69 in Jackson and Independence Counties are still under water.

Hundreds of miles of county roads are still under water.  Do not drive into areas where water crosses the roadway.  It only takes a few inches of fast moving water to push a vehicle off the road.
