KANSAS CITY, MO (AP) - Ten years after its founding, the Stowers Institute for Medical Research plans to open a graduate research program in biology next fall.
The biomedical research center in Kansas City currently has two dozen principal investigators, and center officials say the graduate program is the next step in growth.
R. Scott Howley, dean of the new graduate school, says the school anticipates enrolling five Ph.D candidates in the first year. It hopes to eventually have 10 to 15 graduate students per year.
The Kansas City Star reports that the program will take about five years to complete. The students will receive full financial support for the costs of the program.
Howley says Stowers will be seeking students from across the country and the world.
