Craighead Co. Sheriff conducts water rescue

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Craighead County Sheriff's Department conducted a water rescue after a man was washed away trying to cross a flooded road.

According to Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann, the man tried to cross Highway 230 just west of Bono, which had been closed because of high water.

The man was near the middle of the flooded part of the roadway when he realized he couldn't make it and attempted to turn around. It was then that he was caught by the current and unable to move his vehicle.

Rescuers used a boat to retrieve the man, who had been washed a good distance from the road. No one was injured in the accident.
