From Williams Baptist College
Fifteen Williams Baptist College baseball players have received All-American Midwest Conference honors. The Eagles had six players named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team and one player who was named to the AMC All-Defensive Team. Thirteen players picked up AMC All-Academic honors.
All-AMC Honorable Mention
Mitchell Dennis, a freshman from Neelyville, Mo., batted a team high .377 with 29 RBI's. Dennis had a team high slugging percentage of .479 and was 13 of 14 in stolen bases.
Senior Caleb Dudley from Lebanon, Missouri held down the middle infield with a .963 fielding percentage. He batted .287 with 29 RBI's on the year. On the mound he pitched 18 innings while holding batters to a .183 average.
Senior outfield Tyler Herring from Jonesboro, Arkansas hit .330 with 35 hits. Tyler was also named to the AMC All-Defensive Team for his play at center field. Herring had 90 putouts with a .968 fielding percentage.
Senior shortsop James Mitchell from Pine Bluff, Arkansas batted .349 with 12 doubles and 21 RBI's. he stole 15 bases in 18 attempts. Mitchell was very impressive in the field with 68 putouts and 112 assists.
Junior Shawn Selph from Jackson, Tennessee anchored the Eagle staff. He pitched 60 innings with three complete games. Selph struck out 57 batters while holding them to a .257 average.
Junior Paul Welch from Hot Springs, Arkansas hit .330 on the season with a .443 slugging percentage. Welch had 32 hits and 13 RBI's along with 7 stolen bases.
AMC Academic All-Conference
Making the academic all-conference list were: Josh Cook, Mitchell Dennis, Caleb Dudley, Brody Elder, Kendall Fay, Curtis Jackson, Chris Marcum, Cuyler Marty, James Mitchell, Matt Pierce, Chris Richardson, John Smith and Paul Welch.
To be nominated for this list a player must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge. The Eagles compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
