Man dies in accident with Mack Truck

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Police say a Mountain Home man died in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday on Highway 88, one half mile west of Cornerstone.

According to Arkansas State Police, 33-year-old Gary Hester of Hardy was driving west at a low speed to abide painting lane markings when a 2002 Mack Truck, also traveling west, struck Hester's vehicle in the rear causing it to overturn.

Police say Hester's passenger, 68-year-old Vaughn Pierson of Mountain Home, was killed. Hester, 29-year-old Roderick Gaston of Pine Bluff, and 34-year-old Brittney Tillmonof Pine Bluff were all injured in the accident. The injured were taken to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Crash Reports indicate Hester was the only one involved wearing a seatbelt.
