Region 8 woman arrested, accused of writing hot check

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A Region 8 woman accused of trying to pass a hot check winds up in the hot seat with the Baxter County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested 38-year-old Jennifer Kornegay of Mountain Home.

Investigators say on April 11 she filled her car with more than $21 at the Pronto Convenience Store on U.S. Highway 62/412.  They say she then tried to pay for it with a check for $100.  But the store clerk refused to accept the check.  Deputies say Kornegay took the check and left.  According to the sheriff's office, the check belonged to someone else.

Kornegay is charged with Class C Felony Forgery and Class A Misdemeanor Theft of Motor Fuel.

She's free on $5,000 bond awaiting an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on May 19.  More arrests are anticipated.
