JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A cropduster pilot has been taken to the hospital after his plane crashed in a flooded field.
According to a Craighead County Sheriff's Deputy on scene, Brett Hickman was able to get himself out of the cropduster after it crashed and just before it caught fire. Hickman was taken to a local hospital with a back injury, but was alert and awake.
The crash happened around 9:40 Monday morning just off County Road 384, northeast of Bono. A resident heard the plane go down and called 9-1-1.
No one else was aboard the plane, and no hazardous materials were spilled. Police say the plane took off from the Miles airstrip.
