SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - A private school in Springdale has

petitioned the Arkansas Activities Association to play in a higher

school classification.

Shiloh Christian sent a formal letter of appeal to the

association this week.

classification numbers based on enrollment.

The Northwest Arkansas Times reports that Shiloh Christian has

176 students. That would place the school in Class 2A, but private

schools are bumped up one classification.

In a statement, school officials said Shiloh Christian has

outgrown the lower classification, and requesting the move to 5A

will better position the school for future growth.
