Missouri & Oklahoma collect Big 12 weekly softball awards

Sophomores Nicole Hudson (Missouri) and Keilani Ricketts (Oklahoma) have earned Big 12 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games of May 2-8. This is the second honor for Hudson this season and second of her career, while it is Ricketts' second honor this season and fifth of her career.

Player of the Week

Nicole Hudson, Missouri, So., Outfielder, Webb City, Mo./Webb City

Hudson had at least two hits in all four games last week, starting with a 4-for-6-effort in a doubleheader with Western Illinois on 5/4. She scored three times, drove in one run and doubled. The Webb City, Mo.-native picked up the only two hits against Texas' Blaire Luna on Sunday, which included a double in Missouri's 2-0 loss. Hudson led the Tigers to a split with their 6-3 win on Sunday, as she went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI. The four RBI and three hits ties her career high.

On March 30, Hudson was hitting .250 for the season. Since then, she's hitting .438 with six doubles, six home runs and 22 RBI to go with a .493 OBP and an .813 SLG.

Pitcher of the Week

Keilani Ricketts, Oklahoma, So., San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty

Ricketts helped the Sooners end their 2011 regular season on a three-game win streak. The sophomore was 3-0 over 13.0 innings with a 0.00 ERA, with two hits allowed and 22 strikeouts. The San Jose, Calif.-native limited opponents to an .049 batting average last week. In OU's regular-season finale against Iowa State, Ricketts turned in a two-hit, complete-game win, striking out 14 of 27 batters faced. The complete game was her 28th of the season, which leads the Big 12.

On the season, Ricketts is 25-12 with a 1.45 ERA and league-leading 389 strikeouts. She also batted .600 (3-5) to go along with a .778 on-base percentage and a 1.200 slugging percentage. Ricketts was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week.
