MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Flood victims in Butler, Mississippi, and New Madrid counties can now receive federal help. President Obama signed a major disaster declaration for those three Missouri counties.  You can dial 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or file online at www.disasterassistance.gov.

These are the things you will need before you call or log on.

You'll need your social security number and if you are filing for a business use the number of the responsible party for that business.

Next, you'll need your type or types of insurance coverage and policy number if you have property insurance

Also, make sure to have your family's gross total household income at the time of the disaster.

You'll also need your contact information.  This includes the mailing address and phone number where the damage occurred, and a current address and phone number where you are staying now.

Lastly, you'll need your bank account routing information if you prefer FEMA to use direct deposit.

That federal assistance includes grants for temporary housing, home repairs and loans for uninsured property losses for flood victims.  It's important to note that teams are still out assessing the damage across the Heartland, so more counties could be added to this list in the future.
