The Arkansas State-Virginia Tech football game scheduled for Sept. 17 will be televised by Fox Sports as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Regional Sports Network package, giving the Red Wolves three televised games so far for the 2011 season.
The game, A-State's third of the season, is slated for a 3:00 p.m. (CT) kickoff at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. The contest will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams, which previously met in 1994, 1997 and 2002.
The Hokies, coming off an 11-3 season that saw them compete in the Orange Bowl and finish No. 13 in the final BCS standings, are heading into their 47th season at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. The stadium seats 66,233 and has sold out the last 81 games. Virginia Tech is one of three opponents from the ACC the Red Wolves have ever faced. ASU also played Miami in 1997 and North Carolina State in 2000.
With KATV, the ABC affiliate in Little Rock, also televising the Sept. 24 Arkansas State-UCA game at ASU Stadium, two of the Red Wolves four non-conference games are already set to be televised. ASU will host Sun Belt Conference foe Florida International on Oct. 18 in a game slated to be carried on ESPN2 as well.
A-State played a school-record 10 televised games last season, including the first ever nationally-televised game at ASU Stadium when the Red Wolves faced Middle Tennessee in front of an ESPN2 viewing audience.
