Man ignores road closings, drowns in floodwater

CROSS COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), a Cross County man drowned in floodwater after disregarding multiple road closure signs.

Police say Harry Robinson, Jr., 57, of Cherry Valley, died Wednesday afternoon after maneuvering around several road closure signs and into approximately 12-18 inches of water running over the road.

ASP states Robinson's 2005 Dodge Pickup was whisked from the roadway and wound up about 50 feet north of Hwy 42 (the road he was traveling on) in 10 feet of water.

Deputy Coroner Lynn Blake pronounced Robinson dead at the scene at 4:40 p.m.
