#1 BYU beats #3 Arkansas State 36-15 in CPD semifinals

RIO TANTE, CO (KAIT) - The #3 Arkansas State rugby team jumped out to an early lead against #1 BYU, but couldn't hold on.

The Cougars scored 19 unanswered points and won 36-15 in the College Premier Division semifinals.

Patrick Sullivan got the Red Wolves on the board with a penalty in the opening minutes. Later, a Danie Swanepoel try gave ASU a 8-0 lead.

BYU led 19-8 in the second half when Shaun Potgeiter put ASU back in the game. A try in the 57th minute cut it to 19-15. But the top-ranked Cougars pulled away for the win.

Arkansas State finishes the 2011 season 10-1. The Red Wolves reached the national semifinals for the second straight season.
