FORT WORTH, TX (Star-Telegram) - John Daly is a relatively happy man.
He recently was granted full custody of his son and is currently home-schooling him.
He has succeeded in the struggle to keep off the weight he lost nearly two years ago.
And now he is back at one of his favorite venues on the PGA Tour.
Daly participated in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Hogan Pro-Am on Monday and said if he can get his golf game where he wants it to be, everything will be in order for the 45-year-old.
"This is the first full-round of golf I have played since the Friday in New Orleans," said Daly, who will play in just his eighth tournament this year and missed the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in late April. "Normally around the middle of May, I would have played 14 or 15 events already."
The ever-outgoing Daly's team finished tied for fourth, and he was quick to give those he was paired with some quick lessons and freely signed autographs during Monday's round.
Tournament director Chuck Scherer granted Daly an exemption two years ago, and Daly said he was more than happy to accept this year.
"I have always loved it here," the two-time major winner said. "I told Chuck you've got me for life if you want me because they have always been so good to me here at Colonial."
