WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) –After weeks of high water, one city that has been plagued with flooding anytime it rains is working to improve drainage.

Crews are working on Elm Street this week removing drainage tiles and replacing them.  Anytime rains Street Superintendent Rickey Ditto said flooding happens at Walnut Street and 7th Street and at Elm Street and 6th Street forcing them to close the roads.

"We have seen a tremendous amount of difference as far as water and we have been able to see that because of the floods we've had so we've seen a tremendous amount of difference with that," said Rickey Ditto.

The $125,000 project is mostly funded by a grant and is about halfway finished.

Thanksgiving is a time to be with loved ones and enjoy good food, but since that is not an option for everyone, members of the Jonesboro community came together to make sure as many people as possible were fed.
