WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT) – A couple of Region 8 probationers found themselves back behind bars.
On Wednesday, Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies arrested 23-year-old Robert Matthews of Walnut Ridge for violating parole. On June 23, 2009, Matthews was placed on probation for 48 months for possession of methamphetamine. According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, since then Matthews has failed several drug tests and did not comply with a court order to attend a drug treatment program. Matthews is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond. He's scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on June 29.
On Thursday, deputies arrested 40-year-old Billy Cagle of Pocahontas for probation violations. On April 2, 2009, Cagle was placed on four-year probation for theft of property. Since that time, Sheriff Dotson says Matthews failed to see his probation officer as directed and moved without informing the department. Cagle was also ordered to pay restitution to the property owner and court costs. Dotson says he failed to do either. Cagle is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond. He's also due in Circuit Court on June 29.
