Are recent tornadoes linked to global warming?

JOPLIN, MO (KAIT) - With Sunday's devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri and with the recent deadly storms across the south, some are wondering if global warming is a reason for the strong storms.

The tornado that hit Joplin is responsible for over 100 deaths and is the deadliest single tornado in the U.S. in over 50 years.  While there are more tornado-related deaths this year, according to Greg Carbin with the National Weather Service the number of tornadoes hasn't increased, its just they're hitting more populated areas.
