ASU's Todd Baumgartner leads East over West in Home Run Derby

Arkansas State senior outfielder Todd Baumgartner led all players in the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Home Run Derby Tuesday Night at Warhawk Field.

Baumgartner put on a show in the first round of the derby hitting 15 home runs. Baumgartner had 20 total home runs in the derby which almost doubled that of the efforts of the hitters behind him.

The East team comprised of representatives from Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, FIU and South Alabama beat the West team 48-37 in the derby.

Earlier in the night, Baumgartner was selected to the 2011 All-Sun Belt Conference First Team.

Baumgartner leads ASU with a .348 batting average, 80 hits, 54 runs scored 17 doubles, 39 RBI and eight doubles on the year and is batting .378 in league action.

The Red Wolves baseball team will begin tournament action against No. 2-seeded Florida International on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Monroe, La.
