JONESBORO, Ark. -- Accused murderer Brandon Dent of Jonesboro has pleaded guilty to first degree murder and kidnapping charges in connection with the February slaying of a woman that was described as his former girlfriend.

The 26-year-old Dent entered the guilty pleas Monday in Craighead County Circuit Court.  He was charged in the death of Leann Cowan, 24, whose brutally beaten body was found in her southwest Jonesboro apartment.  Police say the woman had been struck repeatedly with a baseball bat and had suffered multiple stab wounds with a kitchen knife.

Under terms of the plea agreement, Dent will serve two consecutive 480 month terms, and will be 82 years old before he is eligible for parole.
