From Harding University
Harding senior third baseman Jason Nappi and junior second baseman Chase Presley both received All-South Region baseball honors recently.
Nappi, a native of Birmingham, Ala., was named 2nd Team All-South Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Daktronics. Nappi led Harding with a .384 batting average, nine home runs and 54 RBI.
Presley, who hails from Jackson, Tenn., was also on the NCBWA 2nd Team. Presley hit .335 with four home runs and 38 RBI and set school records for at-bats (224), runs (64), doubles (22) and fielding assists (170).
Harding advanced to the NCAA South Region Tournament for the first time in program history in 2011 and won a school-record 42 games.
Nappi and Presley became only the second set of Harding teammates to earn All-Region honors in the same season. In 2007, Adam Darby and Justin Phillips both earned All-Region. Nappi and Presley are the fourth and fifth different Bisons to earn All-Region honors since Harding joined the NCAA for the 1998 season (Justin Cone, 2005; Adam Darby, 2007 & 2009; Justin Phillips, 2007).
The NCAA Division II South Region is comprised of teams from the Gulf South Conference, Sunshine State Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
