White County Voters Approve Sales Tax Hike

SEARCY, Ark. -- White county voters approved a half-cent sales tax increase to pay for a new jail.  The money also will help maintain the jail and cover some law enforcement expenses.  56 percent of voters were in favor of the tax in yesterday's balloting.

The vote was 3,355 to 2,651.
