PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) – A convicted sex offender is in the can, accused of selling stolen cans.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, on Thursday W.W. Recycling reported a man had shown up at their business with 134 pounds of cans.  But, instead of being loose, these cans were bundled as though they had already been sold to a recycling facility.  Deputies instructed the company to buy the cans and get the seller's name.

With that information, the next day deputies went to a home at the J&K Trailer Park where they found 34-year-old Richard Dewayne Johnson.  According to the sheriff's report, Johnson told investigators someone brought the cans to him; but, he couldn't remember their name.  He told deputies he sold the cans and gave the money to a woman named "Nikki."

Johnson was arrested and charged with theft by receiving.  He was also charged with failure to register for living at a different address than what he had on record.  Johnson is a convicted Level 2 sex offender for raping a child and child molestation.  He's due in court on June 20.
