Marion alum Bubba Cooper gets his first save of the 2011 season

MONROE, La. (Sun Belt) - With a 5-3 win over Florida Atlantic, the UALR Trojans moved to 3-0 in Pool A of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament.

The Trojans, who earned a spot in Sunday's championship game with a 9-5 win over WKU on Friday, jumped out quick 1-0 lead on the Owls in the bottom of the first inning. Greg Garcia singled to leadoff the game and then would score on Myles Parma's double in left-center.

The Owls would bounce back in the top of the third inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly and then another on a homerun by Raymond Church. The lead wouldn't last long though.

The Trojans would plate two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double by Casey McCollum.

FAU would tie the score at three apiece in the top half of the sixth inning as Nick DelGuidice, who singled to leadoff the inning, would score on Sean Bukovich's sacrifice fly.

UALR broke the tie in its half of the sixth inning on Cameron Bentley's two RBI single scoring Sean Bignall and Jake Rowell. Rowell walked and Bignall was hit by pitch to start the inning.

Each team had six hits in the game. Chad Woods (1-0) picked up the win for the Trojans with Bubba Cooper earning the save. R.J. Alvarez (6-6) earned the loss for the Owls.

UALR will now face FIU at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the tournament finale.
