LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Former Governor Sid McMath was remembered today as one of Arkansas' clearest representatives of America's greatest generation. Hundreds attended McMath's funeral at Little Rock's Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
The 91-year-old World War II hero, crusading prosecutor and governor from 1949 to 1953 died Saturday.
In his eulogy, former U.S. Senator David Pryor said McMath was an untiring advocate for peace and justice, and that his name was synonymous with reform and vitality.
Pryor says McMath never suffered from the dillusion of power and that McMath "may well have been the best friend that Arkansas ever had."
