Arkansas getting about $41 million in HUD grants

LITTLE ROCK, AR (AP) - The Department of Housing and Urban Development is awarding more than $41 million in block grants to Arkansas.

HUD officials say more than $25 million is funding for the Community Development Block Grant program; $14.39 million will go to the HOME Investment Partnerships program; $1.2 million will go to the Emergency Shelter Grant program and more than 863,000 will go to Housing Operations for Persons with AIDS.

The HOME program is aimed at producing affordable housing for low-income families and the Emergency Shelter grant helps homeless people with basic shelter and essential support services.
