Grizzlies assistant Damon Stoudamire joins Memphis Tigers staff

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - NBA assistant Damon Stoudamire will join

Memphis Tigers coach Josh Pastner's staff as an assistant, pending

approvement by university officials.

The Tigers announced the move Tuesday. Vacancies on the Tigers'

staff were created when Glynn Cyprien left on May 21 to become an

assistant at Texas A&M and Willis Wilson was named head coach at

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in March.

Stoudamire has spent the past two years as a Memphis Grizzlies

assistant coach, and his duties included coaching the team's 2010

summer league squad.

The guard was a four-year standout at Arizona and averaged 13.4

points, 6.1 assists and 3.4 rebounds in his 13 years in the NBA. He

was the No. 7 overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 NBA

draft and the 1995-96 rookie of the year.
