CHEROKEE PASS, MO (KAIT) – A Poplar Bluff girl died Wednesday when the car she was riding in was hit by a tractor-trailer.
The crash happened just before ten o'clock in the morning on U.S. Highway 67 and Route C in Cherokee Pass.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 54-year-old James Murphy of Pocahontas was attempting to cross the highway when his 1996 Freightliner hit a 2003 Ford driven by 40-year-old Ronald Daughhetee of Poplar Bluff. Daughhetee's vehicle ran off the road and overturned.
Eight-year-old Allison Daughhetee was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison County Coroner Chris Follis. Daughhetee and 17-year-old Abby Burke were seriously injured. Daughhetee was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Farmington. Burke was taken by helicopter to St. Louis University Hospital. 41-year-old Melissa Daughhetee received moderate injuries. She was also taken to the Parkland Health Center.
