NEWPORT, AR - The Newport plant that provides what they say is a, "lower-priced corn chip" prodcut to stores around the country, has announced plans to expand.

Their three year expansion plan includes more production lines, which will mean not only more chips, but also more jobs for people in and around Jackson County.

Governor Mike Huckabee, along with Arkansas Economic Development Director, Jim Pickens helped other guests make the announcement, and congratulated the local company.

"It's going to mean millions of dollars worth of economic impact in Jackson County", Huckabee said.

The chip company has been producing corn chips at their only production facility, since 1987.

Owners and Operation Managers told guests at an afternoon press conference, the 250, 000 square foot facility plans to hire 140 more employees, over the next three years.

According to Arkansas' Economic Development grant for the Medallion project is 1.4 Million dollars.
