JPD & JFD to battle it out

JONESBORO, AR(KAIT) – Jonesboro police and firefighters know firsthand how important readily available blood supplies are to those waiting for blood.  Now, they're asking for your help.

They're teaming up with the Red Cross for the "Battle of the Badges" blood drive competition.  All you have to do is roll up your sleeve and give the gift of life.

The blood drive will be held at St. Bernards Auditorium Wednesday, June 8, from 2pm until 7pm and Thursday, June 9, from 11am until 4pm.  The auditorium is located at 505 E. Washington in Jonesboro.

Everyone who donates blood will receive a T-shirt and food.  They'll also have a chance to vote to determine the "Battle of the Badges" traveling trophy winner.

Giving blood is a safe and easy process.  It takes about one hour from providing medical history, to donation, then to refreshments.  Donors must be in good health and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.  Bring photo ID and or donor type card.  Donors cannot have donated within the past 56 days.

For more information about donating blood, how blood is used or other questions visit www.redcrossblood.org
