From Harding University
Harding University juniors Logan Callier and Ryan Johnson earned Capital One Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District VI honors Thursday.
A native of Rockwall, Texas, Callier earned indoor track All-South Region honors as a high jumper. His indoor mark of 6 feet, 4.75 inches was the top indoor high jump mark of the 2011 season. He ranked seventh in the South Region outdoors in the high jump with a mark of 6-04.75.
Callier is an interdisciplinary studies major with a 3.93 grade point average.
Johnson, who hails from Nashville, Tenn., earned his second straight academic all-district honor. In 2010, he placed 14th at the Gulf South Conference Cross Country Meet to earn 2nd Team All-GSC honors. Johnson was All-South Region in indoor track as part of Harding's distance medley relay team that had the top time in the region (10:01.62). He then earned All-South Region outdoors with the seventh-best 800 meter time in the region (1:53.66).
Johnson is a mechanical engineering major with a 3.73 grade point average.
The Capital One Academic All-District teams are voted on by the district's sports information directors. District VI includes NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA schools in Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Mississippi.
Callier and Johnson were two of 10 student-athletes that will move on the Academic All-America ballot.
