Car, foot chase lands Caruthersville man in jail on multiple offenses

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - A traffic stop leads to a car chase in Caruthersville, Missouri, landing a man behind bars.

On Friday, Caruthersville Police Officers tried to stop a vehicle for lane violation, but as officers approached the car, the driver took off.

The driver went south on Carleton at a high speed and wrecked the car after he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree. The driver then fled on foot but was taken into custody shortly after.

Officers arrested the unidentified man for a 4th offense of driving while intoxicated, a 3rd offense of driving while revoked, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, property damage, failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to drive on right half of roadway, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident and failure to wear his seat belt. The suspect is being held in the Pemiscot County jail with his bond set at $25,000.
