COPY-Accident kills woman and 3-year-old in Region 8

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) – A Saturday afternoon car accident has killed a woman and a 3-year-old.

The accident happened around 5pm Saturday afternoon on Business 67 just one mile south of Poplar Bluff.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Robin Steele or Naylor was going southbound on Highway 67 when she lost control of her car and slid into the path of a pick-up truck.

Both the car and truck flipped.

Steele and her 3-year-old passenger Jayden Baugus of Naylor were killed in the accident. Another passenger 32-year-old Trisha McGaughy of Fairdealing was seriously injured in the accident.

The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Cleveland Koonce suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Troopers aren't sure if anyone involved was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

    According to Jackson County Sheriff's Captain Ricky Morales, 40-year-old Rickey D. Crawford Jr., of Tuckerman, was arrested in relation to the death of 33-year-old Amanda Michelle Crawford.
