Pocahontas man wins $10,000 in lottery

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Pocahontas man claims over $10,000 in lottery winnings Monday off new lottery game.

According to the Arkansas Lottery, Vernon Simkins claimed his winnings of $10,004 in the new Decades of Dollars game.

Simkins bought the winning ticket at the Tobacco Superstore 64 on Highway 67 South in Pocahontas. Simkins says he plans on paying off some bills and taking his dad and friends to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field.

Simkins matched 5 of the 6 numbers in Thursday's drawings.

Decades of Dollars is a new $2 game offered in Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia, and Virginia. When a player matches all 6 numbers, they win $250,000 a year for 30 years.
