Deadly day on Region 8 roads

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KAIT) – Monday was a deadly day on Region 8 roads.  Two men were killed and a woman was seriously injured in two rollover crashes.

The first crash happened just after 6 Monday morning on Route T, five miles north of Poplar Bluff.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 43-year-old Curtis Whitlock of Wappapello ran off the road and overturned several times.

Whitlock was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Whitlock was not wearing a seat belt.

Three hours later 78-year-old Gerald Jedrzejak of Mountain Home was killed when he lost control of 2004 Ford Explorer and overturned.

The crash happened around 9:30 on Missouri Highway 5 seven miles south of Gainesville in Ozark County.

The investigating trooper says Jedrzejak apparently failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road, struck an approach and overturned.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

78-year-old Alexsandra Jedrzejak, also of Mountain Home, was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

Both were wearing their seat belts.
