JONESBORO, Ark. (ASU) - The Arkansas State football season-opening game scheduled for Sept. 3 at Illinois will be televised by the Big 10 Network. With the addition of the Illinois game, the Red Wolves now have four televised games on the schedule for the 2011 season.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. Illinois finished the 2010 season with a 7-6 overall record, 4-2 mark at home and a 38-14 victory over Baylor in the Texas Bowl. The game will be the third meeting between the two schools and the Red Wolves' sixth contest against a Big 10 opponent.
Three of the Red Wolves' four non-conference games are now scheduled for television. The Sept. 17 game at Virginia Tech will be broadcast by Fox Sports, while the Sept. 24 home matchup with Central Arkansas will be televised by KATV, the ABC affiliate in Little Rock.
ASU will host Sun Belt Conference foe Florida International on Oct. 18 in a game slated to be carried on ESPN2 as well.
A-State played a school-record 10 televised games last season, including the first ever nationally-televised game at ASU Stadium when the Red Wolves faced Middle Tennessee in front of an ESPN2 viewing audience.
