PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Paragould residents gathered Tuesday to hear Mayor Mike Gaskill speak about a proposed sales tax.
Gaskill gave a presentation Tuesday afternoon at East Side Baptist Church about the city's current economic status and possible future.
Residents listened as Gaskill discussed how tight the current budget is and how the proposed sales tax could help bring jobs to Paragould.
"With our basic budgetary money that we have now, we're able to meet the service needs of the community," Gaskill told Region 8 News. "But when we step out of the box to do additional economic development that requires additional money. If you take that out of our budget any more than we already are, then it might prevent us from offering the services people expect," Gaskill said.
Election day for the proposed sales tax will be June 14th. The presentation was sponsored by Paragould Regional Chamber of Commerce.
