(WMC-TV) – One person was killed Thursday morning in a shooting at a home in the 5000 block of Glenwild.

According to a Memphis police spokesperson, officers were called to the scene around 11:00 a.m. on a report that a 52-year-old Patrick Jorgensen, Sr. had shot his son multiple times.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, 24-year-old Patrick Jorgensen, lying in the yard suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to The MED, where he died.

Investigators believe Jorgensen, Sr. shot him during a fight. Neighbor Joyce Turner said the father was injured from a fight with his son.

"It started out as an altercation and apparently he was injured and bloody," said Turner. "It was quite a bit of blood. They took him to the MED."

Jorgensen was a track star at Christian Brothers High School. He was all metro in cross country and ran anchor for the 3,200 meter relay track team.

Jorgensen's friends told Action News 5 he was very intelligent and was majoring in engineering at the University of Memphis.

Jorgensen, Sr. was in custody Thursday night. He was also taken to The MED, in non-critical condition.

Police have not revealed what the father and son were arguing about.
