Arkansas Escapee Captured

October 19, 2003

An Arkansas man and frequent escapee who fled a jail 15 years ago while serving time for attempted murder and other charges was captured today in Northwest Ohio.

Jerome Alan Bargo was found at a local bar.

A tipster had seen Bargo on the TV show ``America's Most Wanted.''

The 48 year old escaped from Arkansas jails at least 4 times, the last time on May 10th of 1988.

He was serving 140 years for the attempted murder of a Bentonville police officer and a string of thefts and was being transferred to another jail for a separate trial.

Bargo had eluded police, despite appearing on ``America's Most Wanted'' , ``Unsolved Mysteries'' and ``Wanted By The FBI.''
