BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Midway gas station employee finds himself charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing an estimated $5,000 in cash.

According to Baxter county Sheriff John Montgomery, Raymond Brooks Moore, 26,  of Midway was arrested after the Tri-Angle Station reported theft of cash and lottery tickets.

Investigating Deputy David Akire says he figured out that the suspect was, in fact, an employee at the gas station and was still on duty at the time of the thefts. After watching in-store surveillance footage, Akire realized the suspect had taken cash from the register, food, and lottery ticket money drawers.

Moore was taken to the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division for an interview, and admitted to taking the items reported missing say Investigators Brad Lewis and Drayton McDaniel.

Moore is formally charged with a Class C Felony, and is currently in the Baxter County Detention Center in lieu of $7,000 bond pending his appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on June 23.

Sheriff Montgomery says the investigation is still ongoing.
