ASU's Hugh Freeze to speak at Holiday Island Resort

From Arkansas State University

Arkansas State head football coach Hugh Freeze will be the featured speaker June 30 when the A-State Athletic Department hosts a reception at the Holiday Island (Ark.) Club House from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

One of the most dynamic motivational speakers in the country, Freeze is set to begin his initial campaign as the Red Wolves' head coach. Freeze became ASU's 27th head coach Dec. 2 after serving as the Red Wolves' offensive coordinator during the 2010 season. In just one season, he made an immediate impact on ASU's program, leading the offense to a No. 43 national ranking in total offense one year after ASU finished toward the bottom of the NCAA FBS rankings at No. 95.

Utilizing Freeze's up-tempo spread offense, the Red Wolves broke nine offensive school records, including 4,841 yards of total offense to rank No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Red Wolves' offense topped 300 yards all 12 times it took the field for the first time in the history of the program. A-State posted at least 400 yards of total offense in seven games during the 2010 campaign, the most ever as an NCAA FBS member.

Red Wolves fans are invited to join Freeze and ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee, who will also be speaking at the event, for an evening of food, fellowship and details on the upcoming football season, which features six home games. The home schedule includes matchups against regional rivals Memphis and Central Arkansas, and a nationally-televised game against Florida International.

Memphis will visit Jonesboro Sept. 10, with UCA visiting ASU Stadium Sept. 24. The Red Wolves' clash with FIU is scheduled for Oct. 18 and will be televised on ESPN2. The Red Wolves will also host North Texas Oct. 29 and Louisiana-Lafayette Nov. 12 before wrapping up the regular season by playing host to Troy Dec. 3.

Season football tickets can be ordered by contacting the ASU Box Office at 870-972-ASU1 or 1-888-ASU-FANS or by visiting AStateRedWolves.com.

Holiday Island is located on Hwy. 23, nine miles north of Eureka Springs. The Club House is located at #1 Country Club Drive. For more information on the reception, contact the ASU Red Wolf Club at 870-972-2401.
