WINNIPEG (TheStar.com) - If there was still any doubt that Cleo Lemon will be the Argos' starting quarterback, he did his part to erase it Thursday night.
Lemon opened the Argos' final pre-season matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by tossing a 47-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Brandon Rideau just three possessions into the game.
The Argos went on to beat the Bombers 30-23 at Canad Inns Stadium, in front of 29,117 fans. Lemon completed 14 of 20 passes, throwing for 189 yards before leaving partway through the third quarter.
"It's Cleo's team," said Argos head coach and GM Jim Barker after Thursday night's win. "He's earned the right to lead this team, and he's come a long way."
Lemon secured his role as starter over Dalton Bell, who is nursing a tweaked groin but will be backing Lemon up when the season starts next week.
