Arkansas storms knock down fireworks stands, big trees

ASH FLAT, AR (AP) - Nearly 3,000 customers are without electricity in Garland County, where severe weather has knocked down trees and power lines.

Storms continued rolling across the state Tuesday, with a line of thunderstorms stretching from Fayetteville to Arkadelphia to the Mississippi border.

There were numerous reports of hail, heavy rain and high winds. Entergy Arkansas reports 10,000 customers are without power, with plenty of scattered outages.

Jefferson and Lawrence counties each have about 1,500 customers out.

The National Weather Service says an inch of rain fell in the span of half an hour in Gassville Tuesday morning.

The weather service has posted a severe thunderstorm watch for much of western, central and southeast Arkansas.
