Trumann plant celebrates 25 years of success

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) – Columbia Forest Products celebrated its 25th anniversary Tuesday at the Old Community House on Poinsett Street.

Employees, city officials and members of the Industrial Development Commission were treated to a bar-be-cue lunch.

Bob Jones has worked with Columbia for more than two decades.  He told Region 8 News  the company has meant a lot to the area.

"It's helped the people get a job in this community," Jones said.  "It's been pretty stable.  People have been able to keep their jobs and not be laid off in hard times."

Plant manager Doug Heath has been with Columbia for more than 30 years and at the Trumann plant for nearly a decade.  He says he's seen a number of changes take place over the years.  "We've grown, added processes and certainly modernized some equipment," he said.  "But, at the very heart of it, the people who work here continue to make the product and the facility successful."

Columbia services some of the largest cabinet manufacturers in the U.S. and employs more than 100 people at its Trumann facility.
