Razorback golfer Emily Tubert receives sponsor exemption to play in Northwest Arkansas Championship

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas golfer Emily Tubert has received a

sponsor's exemption and will play in the LPGA's Northwest Arkansas

Championship in September.

Tubert, the world's No. 8-ranked women's amateur golfer, set a

school record for the best finish by a freshman last season when

she finished 19th at the NCAA Championships. She also carded the

Razorbacks' lowest round during the season with a 63.

Tubert was a first-team All-American and the Southeastern

Conference's co-Freshman of the Year. She led Arkansas in scoring

average (72.16) and most rounds in the 60s (10) and had three

tournament wins.

The LPGA event returns to Pinnacle Country Club for the fifth

year from Sept. 5-11. Former Arkansas and current LPGA golfer Stacy

Lewis won the rain-shortened event while still a member of the

Razorbacks in 2007.
