Arkansas State Athletics held its third Scarlet Scramble this summer at the Paragould Country Club on Tuesday, June 28. Paragould was the host site of a Scarlet Scramble for the 25th time.
The tournament was ASU's next to last Scarlet Scramble of the summer, with the final outing planned for July 11 in Blytheville. ASU's first Scarlet Scramble this year was played June 1 in Osceola, while the second was played in Newport on June 10.
ASU's four Scarlet Scrambles all lead up to the ASU Open, scheduled for Oct. 28 at Sage Meadows Golf Club in Jonesboro. The winning team at each of the four scrambles earns a free spot in the ASU Open.
A total of 18 teams competed in the Paragould tournament with 73 total golfers raising over $6,000.
Winning the event and a free spot in the ASU Open with a score of 17-under par was the team of Van Winton, Daniel Gossett, Chad Stallcup and Brian Boyer. Also with a score of 17-under par, the team of Matt McGowan, Jason Weatherford, Dylan Bateman and Steve Johnson came in second place.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit the ASU Red Wolf Club.
