BOSTON - Missouri Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson joined other elected leaders today in Boston at a regional forum supporting making lower-cost Canadian drugs available to U.S. citizens.
The gathering was the eighth in a series hosted by members of Congress who support access to Canadian drugs.
Emerson helped shepherd drug-import legislation through the House.
The southeast Missouri Republican said states can't keep up with drug and insurance costs that soar 15 to 20 percent a year. She said if states can save money and get the same products or services, it's worth doing.
Panelists included Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who announced plans this month to help citizens safely fill prescriptions in Canada.
Pawlenty said it's time for the nation to try something different.
