Body of missing Region 8 man found in ditch

KENNETT, MO (KAIT) - The body of a missing Kennett man was found early Friday morning after family members reported him missing late Thursday night.

According to Deputy Ryan Holder with the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Office, Larry Joe Crafton, 63, was reported missing at approximately 11 p.m. Thursday. Family members suspected Crafton was at the floodway ditches as he was often there for recreational activities.

A search party was disbanded around 2 a.m. Friday. Around 6:30 that morning, Crafton's body was found. He was located about five and a half miles south of Highway EE.

Holder said Crafton may have been involved in a four-wheeler accident when he attempted to climb the levee portion of the floodways. Holder also said Crafton may have had a heart attack.
