Two of Lyon's TranSouth rivals are moving to NCAA Division II

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The NCAA has approved Union University

and Trevecca Nazarene University for its Division II membership


Both schools announced the moves Monday.

Union's 10 athletics programs will continue to compete in the

TranSouth Athletic Conference this season before moving to the Gulf

South Conference for the 2012-13 season, though they will not

immediately be eligible for NCAA tournaments.

Trevecca's 11 athletics programs will also remain in the

TranSouth Athletic Conference for the upcoming season and are

pursuing an NCAA conference affiliation, possibly with the Peach

Belt Conference, Gulf South Conference or South Atlantic


Currently there are seven universities in Tennessee with NCAA

Division II programs.
